Welcome to the fascinating world of essential oil and aromatherapy science. Modern scientific research is increasingly confirming what the world has long known by empirical observation. The clue has long been in the name.....Essential n. something of importance.
The patient work of professional aromatherapists is making a difference to lives of people, in mind, body and spirit on a daily basis. Robert Tisserand has always been a guide to both the art and science of using essential oils safely and effectively in the home or in healthcare. This weekend he will be working us hard. As all professional aromatherapists will know, Robert Tisserand is regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on the many benefits of aroma and aromatherapy. I am delighted to host the Robert Tisserand 2 day Weekend Seminar being held at Imperial College, London on May 12 and 13 this year.
Robert spends a great deal of time tracking all the published research relevant to essential oils and regularly collaborates on international projects with doctors, herbalists and pharmacologists. He is also familiar with the foundations of oriental medicine, and Western herbal and naturopathic traditions with their emphasis on cleansing, protecting, strengthening immune function and aiding natural healing processes.
What I have always found valuable about Roberts writing and teaching is his ability through thorough understanding of the science to make the research validating aromatherapy treatments intelligle to the practitioner or health professional. The language of psychopharmacology and cellular level science is not easily accessible to the non scientist. Those imagining or promoting the idea that aromatherapy lacks scientific validation will find little comfort in Roberts writings. No one should be put off a career in aromatherapy or prescribing aromatherapy treatments. Robert has probably done as much as anyone to ensure aromatherapy retains the highly positive image in the media that aromatherapy enjoys with the public at grass roots level. Others too are able to communicate this positive message of scientific validation in a scientific way and I recommend this webinar to anyone working in clinical aromatherapy. Dr James Geiger
